DESCRIPTION:RICHMOND\, CA — The Regla-Cuba Friendship Committee and Richmond4Palestine are holding a benefit concert featuring the Calle Ocho Band performing Cuban music in the backyard of the Point Richmond Gallery\, 145 Richmond Ave.\, Point Richmond\, on Sunday\, June 14. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. \nA suggested donation of $25 at the door will benefit humanitarian aid projects in Richmond’s sister cities of Regla\, Cuba and Sebastia\, Palestine. Light refreshments\, arts\, and handicrafts will be available (cash and carry preferred). \nThe Richmond–Regla Friendship Committee was established in 1999; the Richmond–Sebastia Sister City Commission is currently being formed. Regla is located directly across the bay from Havana; Sebastia is located in the West Bank\, Palestine. \nThe sister city concept was initiated in the post-World War II era by President Eisenhower to foster peace between nations through people-to-people diplomacy\, including cultural and educational exchanges.
